Scooby-Doo: Origins

Scooby-Doo: Origins is a live-action origin story for Mystery Inc. based on the Hanna-Barbera characters. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne become involved in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Pragmatic, scientific local Velma and strange new kid Freddy join the investigation as the case begins exposing each teenager’s secrets. Instead of opening with an established team, the series follows the mystery that first brings the group together. Mckenna Grace plays Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen plays Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson plays Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins plays Fred Jones. Paul Walter Hauser, André Benjamin, Cathy Moriarty, Sara Gilbert, Bruce McGill, and other announced performers have undisclosed roles. A real Great Dane plays Scooby, which Netflix describes as a first for the franchise. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as showrunners; Toby Haynes executive produces and directs the premiere episode. Netflix and Warner Brothers Television are behind the series, with Berlanti Productions and Midnight Radio represented among the executive producers. Production was underway in Atlanta in Netflix’s August 27 update, and the Netflix Media Center says the show will launch globally on Netflix. As of August 31, 2026, Netflix has not announced a premiere date, episode count, trailer, or age rating, so this hub keeps the series marked Upcoming rather than presenting an estimated schedule.
