Quiztopia

Overview

Quiztopia is set in an alternate Japan where a nationally televised quiz show has become the highest governing authority. Contestants who survive can ask the government for almost anything, while eliminated players face forced labor. KK, the show’s celebrity host, becomes the target of people who want to bring down the system. Takayuki Yamada plays KK. Riko Ishida plays Mari, who intends to kill him, while Kana Kurashina plays her mother Ayako. Koji Seto is activist Seiji Nanbara, Eiko Koike is producer Shoko Kamijo, Masahiro Takashima is Commander Murakoshi and Renji Ishibashi is Prime Minister Takeshi Gokumazawa. Netflix has announced 16 additional cast members, though many character names have not yet been specified. The live-action series adapts the 1993 manga by writer Reiichi Sugimoto and illustrator Shinkichi Kato. Netflix has confirmed a global December 17, 2026 premiere and eight episodes. It has not specified whether those episodes release all at once. The official teaser shows the spectacle spilling into restaurants, homes and public screens.
