Overview
Get Jiro is a ten-episode adult animated action satire from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios. It adapts the graphic novels created by Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose and follows a mysterious sushi chef in a post-apocalyptic, near-future Los Angeles. Culinary culture rules the city: food is currency, a marker of class and a source of power for its most influential chefs. Jiro enters that world on a quest for revenge. Brian Tee voices Jiro. The announced cast also includes Titus Welliver, Alison Pill and Justin Kirk. Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood developed the television adaptation and executive produce alongside Jordan Blum and Sam Register. The source graphic novels include Get Jiro!, illustrated by Langdon Foss, and the prequel Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi, illustrated by Alé Garza. In the original comic, rival chefs control food factions and smaller restaurants face pressure to follow their rules. Jiro operates outside the most comfortable dining districts and has strong ideas about food of his own. The television series uses the same food-obsessed Los Angeles premise and a revenge quest. Its first season has ten episodes, but it is not announced as a scene-by-scene recreation of the books. Adult Swim announced the premiere for the October 3, 2026 Saturday-night Toonami block at midnight ET/PT. That midnight slot falls on the local calendar at the start of Sunday, October 4. HBO Max is the announced next-day streaming service, with an October 4 start in the North American release notice. That date is an announced release window, not confirmation that every region and account already has the episode. International service dates are not specified in that notice. The U.S. Hulu title catalog currently lists two episodes and a TV-MA rating. Its public page does not establish the precise subscription or add-on needed for every account. Get Jiro is an adult action satire, rather than a family cooking cartoon. Adult Swim’s early preview gives a first look at its sushi chef. The full first season has ten episodes; a complete weekly release calendar and finale date are not supplied by the premiere announcement.
