Below is a six-episode Netflix limited thriller created by Jesse McKeown. Josh Hartnett plays Calvin Penney, a stubborn but caring fisherman in Snooks Arm, Newfoundland, who is still haunted by his father’s unexplained death. When an unidentified sea creature begins terrorizing the town, Calvin teams with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander, played by Mackenzie Davis, to protect his family and uncover the island’s secrets. Charlie Heaton plays Wade Penney, with Willow Kean as Ruth Penney, Ruby Stokes as Mary Penney, Rohan Campbell as Jay Penney and Kaleb Horn as Noah. Netflix also lists Natasha Henstridge and Mary Walsh. Karen Walton, Perry Chafe and Natty Zavitz write alongside McKeown; Jamie Childs, Helen Shaver and Stephen Dunn direct the episodes. The production filmed in Newfoundland, including real ocean locations described by Tudum. All six episodes arrive on Netflix on October 8, 2026.
