Overview

Where to watch

Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena is a six-part documentary hosted by Rice University professor Jeffrey J. Kripal. It combines first-person accounts of unusual experiences with material held at the university’s Center for the Impossible. The collection preserves correspondence, field notes, oral histories, recordings and other records of what people say they experienced. Their presence in an archive does not establish that a paranormal explanation is correct. The series was developed for television by Harris Fishman and October Films. Amy Lee-Jones directs, with Fishman co-directing. The executive producers include Chris Muckle, Fishman, Tom Thayer, Ellen Rocamora and showrunner Mike Warner. Filming took place in and around Rice’s Woodson Research Center at Fondren Library and other campus locations. The archive material includes collections associated with psychiatrist John E. Mack and author Whitley Strieber. The documentary sets these historical records beside contemporary interviews. The premiere was released October 1, 2026 in the United States. New episodes are scheduled weekly through November 5, on SundanceTV at 10/9c and on AMC+ and All Reality. The six announced chapters cover claimed telepathy, alien abduction, prophetic dreams and remote viewing, mediumship, near-death experiences, and accounts of unseen forces. The first episode is currently available; later dates belong to the weekly rollout. AMC+ lists the series as TV-14. Its first episode, Telepathic Children, has a separate TV-PG badge and a listed runtime of 43 minutes.
