Overview
Against the Current is a Chinese historical romance starring Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi. Shen Jialan loses her family’s protection after an accusation of treason. She survives by taking the identity of Xu Lanxiang and working in the Lin household, where her former fiancé Lin Jinqi belongs. Her new position places her inside the same family that once expected her as a bride. The story follows the household’s hierarchy, conflicting loyalties and Jialan’s search for justice. Tan Songyun plays Shen Jialan / Xu Lanxiang, while Liu Xueyi plays Lin Jinqi. The drama is adapted from He Yanshan’s novel 兰香缘, with Huang Yingxiang and Chen Dan directing and Tong Hua and Xiao Lou credited for the screenplay. It premiered on CCTV-8 and Tencent Video on September 11, 2026. WeTV identifies the series as a 47-episode production; that total does not mean every episode is already playable in every region.
