Wicker

Wicker is an adult romantic fantasy set in a conservative seaside village. Olivia Colman’s ostracized Fisherwoman commissions the local Basketmaker, played by Peter Dinklage, to weave her a husband. The Wicker Husband, played by Alexander Skarsgård, becomes a kind and unusually desirable partner; their marriage exposes the village’s jealousy, hypocrisy, and rules about sex and social status. Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson wrote and directed the film from Ursula Wills-Jones’s short story “The Wicker Husband.” Elizabeth Debicki, Marli Siu, and Nabhaan Rizwan join the ensemble, and Weta Workshop helped create the practical Wicker Husband suit worn by Skarsgård. Wicker premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2026. Black Bear scheduled a limited U.S. theatrical opening for October 23 followed by nationwide expansion on October 30.
