Set in the mid-1970s, The Stunt Driver follows Canadian stunt driver Ken Carter as he plans to clear a mile of the St. Lawrence River in a rocket-powered car. Doubt from other people, money problems and his own personal struggles make the attempt harder to put together. The official film site calls the story an underdog tale and explicitly states that some characters, incidents, dialogue and events are fictionalized or dramatized.
Jay Baruchel plays Carter. Ben Foster appears as Evel Knievel, and Ed Helms is among the lead cast. Laurence Leboeuf plays Gloria, while distributor photo captions identify Marc Beaupré as Danny Lafortune. Dan Bakkedahl and Joe Cobden also appear. Michael Dowse wrote and directed the film.
