Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda is an upcoming live-action theatrical film based on the long-running fantasy game series. Wes Ball directs, with Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad producing. Bo Bragason plays Princess Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth plays Link. Nintendo and Arad Productions are producing the film, while Sony Pictures Entertainment co-finances and handles worldwide theatrical distribution. Nintendo is financing more than half of the production.
Nintendo has not announced a plot synopsis, additional cast, content rating, or a specific game storyline for the adaptation. The project was announced in November 2023 with Sony Pictures and Arad Productions.
The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for theatrical release on May 7, 2027. Filming began by early 2026, and Nintendo has described the project as part of its strategy to bring its intellectual properties to audiences through visual content beyond dedicated game hardware.
