The Harvester

The Harvester, titled Sacamantecas in Spain, takes place near the end of the Third Carlist War. Several women have been found strangled outside Vitoria, and Ángela Berrosteguieta returns to bury her sister. She becomes determined to prove that farmer Juan Díaz de Garayo is responsible.

Pío Pinedo, the head of the constabulary, has few resources and faces pressure from authorities who want to hide the growing number of murders. The film combines Ángela’s personal search with the damaged landscape and institutions of a country still at war.

David Pérez Sañudo directs from a screenplay written with Sergio Granda. Patricia López Arnaiz and Antonio de la Torre lead the cast. The film runs 109 minutes, premiered in a special screening at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and opens in Spanish theaters on November 6, 2026.
