My Little Pony: Equestria Girls

Twilight has a crown to recover and a whole new world to figure out. After Sunset Shimmer steals it, Twilight follows her through a magical mirror and arrives at Canterlot High as a human teenager. Spike becomes a dog, and the students include five girls who look very much like her friends back home.

To get the crown back, Twilight needs to bring those girls together and face Sunset at the Fall Formal. The 2013 film starts the Equestria Girls adventures, with Jayson Thiessen directing, Tara Strong voicing Twilight, and Rebecca Shoichet voicing Sunset Shimmer.

Watch this one after Friendship Is Magic season 3 so Twilight’s role at the start feels familiar. If you enjoy Canterlot High, continue with Rainbow Rocks, Friendship Games, and Legend of Everfree, in that order. You can follow these films alongside the Ponyville series without replacing any of its seasons.

One detail to remember for later: the Twilight in this first film is the pony who came through the mirror. The human world also has its own Twilight, often called Sci-Twi. They are two different characters, even though they look alike.
