My Little Pony: A New Generation

Sunny Starscout wants Earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi to be friends again. When the curious unicorn Izzy Moonbow arrives in her hometown, Sunny finally gets a chance to do something about it. Their journey brings them together with Zipp Storm, Pipp Petals, and Hitch Trailblazer.

This 2021 CG-animated movie takes place in a later Equestria, where the pony communities live apart, distrust one another, and have lost their magic. Sunny and her friends lead the story, so you can start here without watching all of Twilight’s adventures first.

The film’s voices include Vanessa Hudgens as Sunny, Kimiko Glenn as Izzy, James Marsden as Hitch, Sofia Carson as Pipp, and Liza Koshy as Zipp. If a pony sounds different in a later show, check that production’s credits: the follow-up series have their own voice casts.

After the movie, Make Your Mark continues the friends’ adventures in CG animation. Tell Your Tale offers shorter stories with a 2D look. The two shows were released alongside each other, so there is no need to finish all of one before trying the other. Start with the film to see how the friends first come together.
