Moana

Moana is Disney’s 2026 live-action retelling of its animated adventure. Catherine Lagaʻaia plays Moana, a young voyager who leaves Motunui and travels with the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) to restore prosperity to her people. Thomas Kail directs. John Tui plays Chief Tui, Frankie Adams plays Sina, and Rena Owen plays Gramma Tala. Auliʻi Cravalho, the voice of Moana in the animated films, is an executive producer. The film opened in US theaters on July 10, 2026 and runs 1 hour 55 minutes. The US MPA rates it PG.

Where to watch: Disney says the film will come to Disney+, but it has not announced a streaming date. Do not confuse it with the animated Moana (2016) or Moana 2, which are already on Disney+.
