Hope begins in the remote South Korean village of Hope Harbor. Police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae investigate a creature that has caused havoc nearby. Hunters including Sung-ki enter the surrounding forest and discover they may be the prey. What first looks like a local incident grows into a much larger, potentially catastrophic confrontation.
Na Hong-jin, director of The Wailing, wrote and directed the science-fiction thriller. Hwang Jung-min plays Bum-seok, Hoyeon plays Sung-ae and Zo In-sung plays Sung-ki. Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender also appear as alien figures using motion capture. Na said he sought a handmade quality for the action even though the story necessarily uses CGI.
US distributor NEON currently lists Hope as in theaters. The separately announced UK and Ireland opening is September 25, 2026. Release and screening availability vary by territory. The images shown here are official production stills supplied by NEON.
