Elsinore

Elsinore tells the true story of Scottish actor Ian Charleson and his final stage performance at London’s National Theatre. Andrew Scott plays Charleson, who performs Hamlet while seriously ill. The film follows his work on stage and his relationships with the people around him. Olivia Colman, Billie Piper, Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, David Dawson, Matthew Beard and Joe Locke are among the cast. Simon Stone directs a screenplay by Stephen Beresford, based on an idea by Ethan Silverman.

Focus Features opens the film in select North American theaters on November 20, 2026. It plans to expand to more locations over Thanksgiving and through December. There is no announced U.S. streaming or home-release date yet. The official trailer is available now.
