Ebenezer

Ebenezer is Ti West’s new film version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Johnny Depp plays Ebenezer Scrooge, the wealthy businessman whose wish to spend Christmas alone is interrupted by supernatural visitors. A warning from a ghost leads him toward encounters with the past, present and future.

Ian McKellen plays Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s former business partner. In Dickens’ original story, Marley returns after death before the three Christmas spirits arrive. His visit warns Scrooge that his treatment of other people has consequences beyond the comfortable life he has built for himself.

The announced cast also includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy and Tramell Tillman. Nathaniel Halpern wrote the screenplay, and Emma Watts produced the film. West previously directed X and Pearl, both released in 2022.

Paramount Pictures lists the U.S. theatrical release as November 13, 2026. Early poster advertising carries a Thanksgiving window, but November 13 is the current date. No streaming service, streaming premiere date or U.S. age classification has been confirmed in the film’s current official details.

Dickens published A Christmas Carol in 1843. Its story brings Scrooge back into contact with memories and people he has tried to keep out of his life, including his clerk’s family. The new trailer combines Scrooge’s sharp replies with candlelit ghost encounters and visits beyond his rooms.
