Overview

Being Heumann is a true-story drama and comedy about Judy Heumann and the coalition of disability-rights activists who occupied a federal building in San Francisco in 1977. Their 28-day protest demanded enforcement of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act after years of delay. Ruth Madeley plays Judy Heumann. Mark Ruffalo plays Joseph Califano and Dylan O’Brien plays Evan White, with Madeline Delp, Roberta Colindrez, Jon Beavers, Antwan Tolliver, Ray Fisher, Andrew Pilkington, Michael Patrick Thornton and Russell Harvard among the ensemble. Siân Heder directs and co-wrote the movie with Rebekah Taussig. Being Heumann opens in select theaters November 6 and on Apple TV November 13, 2026. Apple lists a runtime of 2 hours 7 minutes, an R rating, English original audio, closed captions, SDH subtitles and audio description.
