Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus follows B.J. Blazkowicz after Wolfenstein: The New Order. Its America is an alternate version of 1961 in which the Nazis won World War II. B.J. and his allies try to bring scattered resistance groups together against the occupation. This is a fictional history, not a recreation of the real war.

The action is shown through B.J.'s eyes. Ordinary guns sit alongside weapons such as laser guns and gas-powered grenade launchers. You can upgrade weapons and carry a gun in each hand. Armored soldiers and large machines make fights look and feel different from a straightforward exchange of rifle fire. Conversations and story scenes also spend time with the people behind the resistance.
MachineGames developed the game, and Bethesda Softworks published it. The original release was October 27, 2017, on Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Nintendo Switch received a later version in 2018; that port does not change the original release date.
In the United States, the PC, PS4 and Xbox One game is rated ESRB M, for ages 17 and older. Its rating includes intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and strong language.
