Tunic follows a little fox in a large, unfamiliar land. At first, you know almost nothing about the world or its rules. You find a weapon, uncover paths through ruins, and face creatures that may be too strong for a careless attack. The view looks down on the landscape at an angle, so a path can be hidden behind a wall or just outside what you noticed first.

Exploration and discovery are as important as combat. You can attack, block, dodge, and manage your stamina while learning an enemy's patterns. Scattered manual pages gradually explain controls, places, maps, and secrets. Many pages use unfamiliar writing, but their pictures and diagrams still give clues. Finding a page can change how you understand an area you thought was already finished.
Tunic Team developed the game and Finji published it for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 16, 2022. Later versions reached more consoles, but this date is the original launch. The official cover shows the fox holding a sword and shield beneath the game's title.
