SUPERHOT looks like a first-person shooter, but it plays as a chain of short decisions. Its rooms are mostly white, enemies are bright red, and guns and other useful objects are black. Time moves very slowly while you stand still and speeds up as you move or act. That gives you a moment to read the scene: where is a bullet travelling, which red enemy is closest, and is there a weapon within reach? A good attempt often starts by waiting just long enough to see the danger before stepping out of its path.

You do not have a health bar that refills between hits, and spare ammunition is not scattered around every room. You can take a gun or another object from a fallen enemy, throw an object to interrupt someone, or change direction so a shot passes by. The levels are small enough to replay quickly, which makes a failed attempt useful information. The gallery below shows the clear visual language: red figures against white spaces, thin red bullet trails and the black weapon held in front of you. A computer-style story interface also appears between some fights.
SUPERHOT Team developed and published the original PC game on February 25, 2016. SUPERHOT VR is a separate game, released later that year; its movement and controls should not be confused with this version. MIND CONTROL DELETE is another separate entry. If a video says you must physically duck or reach out with a VR controller, it is teaching the VR game, not this original release.
