Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brings fighters from Nintendo games and other series into fast battles on shared stages. Choose a fighter, attack opponents to raise their damage percentage, then hit them hard enough to send them off the screen. A high percentage means a fighter flies farther when struck. If your own fighter is launched, a jump or recovery move may bring them back to the stage.

You can play a straightforward Smash match with friends on one Switch, set rules and stage choices, or practice alone. Squad Strike lets players build small teams for a series of fights. Training mode shows how far an opponent travels after an attack, while Classic Mode gives each fighter a run of battles. The gallery shows what the match screen, a team matchup, Training and other menus look like. It is easier to choose a mode when you can recognize it on the screen.
Nintendo published Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch on December 7, 2018. Sora Ltd. and Bandai Namco Studios worked on development with Nintendo. The original release already included a large roster, with more fighters and stages added later as downloadable content. The game supports local play and online matches; online play requires Nintendo Switch Online.
