SSX is the PlayStation 2 launch-era snowboarding game from EA Sports Canada. Its courses are built around speed, jumps, and large trick opportunities rather than a realistic downhill simulation. The original release presents a World Circuit progression and a set of eight snow-covered tracks, with race-focused runs competing against rivals and showoff-style runs rewarding the rider who can turn airtime into points.

The controls separate ordinary steering from trick input, letting a rider rotate and perform grabs while airborne. A clean landing preserves momentum; a crash throws away the speed that makes the next section manageable. The game also provides tutorial material and freer practice, which are useful because each course combines broad downhill sections with jumps, narrow landings, and turns that punish late braking.

Start with the tutorial and one race course before attempting to maximize every trick. Learn where the track naturally launches the board, then use only a short trick sequence that you can land reliably. Save longer combinations for wide jumps, and treat boost as a tool for the next section rather than something to spend immediately. SSX (2000) is the original game, separate from SSX Tricky, SSX 3, and the 2012 SSX reboot.
