Rise of the Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft after the events of Tomb Raider (2013). She is looking for a legendary place called Kitezh and evidence connected to immortality, while a secretive group named Trinity searches for the same answers. You see Lara from behind as you explore. A ledge, rope point or climbable wall may be the way forward; a campsite is where you can pause, check progress and improve skills. The story moves between snowy wilderness, old ruins and smaller enclosed spaces. Some tombs are optional challenges rather than the only path through the story.

Exploration is not just running toward an objective marker. Lara can inspect locations for materials, use what she finds to craft supplies and solve physical puzzles inside tombs. Combat gives you room to choose between a quieter approach and direct action, but it also costs resources. The gallery moves from a firelit enemy camp to a rocky passage, a long jump and snow-covered ruins. Each setting asks you to look for a different route. If you are new, stop at the edge of a gap and find the next visible handhold before jumping; do not assume that every wall can be climbed. The close-up of Lara is a story frame, not a guide to an interface button.
Crystal Dynamics launched the game on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015 in the Americas and Asia, with later regional and PC and PlayStation 4 releases. The current Steam listing is a later PC/20 Year Celebration edition and shows a 2016 PC date; that is not the original release date used here. This profile covers the main Rise of the Tomb Raider adventure rather than treating its later edition or DLC as a new 2015 game. Start with the main story, spend a moment learning the campsite and movement prompts, and return to optional tombs when you have the right equipment if an entrance does not yet make sense.
