Return to Monkey Island brings back Guybrush Threepwood, a pirate who has spent years searching for the secret behind Monkey Island. Old rival LeChuck and familiar faces return, but a new group of pirate leaders has changed the islands Guybrush remembers. The story mixes jokes, strange characters, and a personal question about why the secret still matters to him.

This is a point-and-click adventure: explore an area, speak with people, collect objects, and work out how to use what you found to move the story forward. A conversation may reveal where to look next, while an item that seemed useless on one island might solve a problem on another. You do not need fast reflexes or combat skills. The game includes help for players who get stuck, making it approachable even if you missed the older Monkey Island adventures.
Terrible Toybox made the game with series creator Ron Gilbert and Lucasfilm Games; Devolver Digital published its PC and Nintendo Switch launch on September 19, 2022. The official cover uses its distinctive pirate illustration and full title.
