Resident Evil 2 rebuilds the 1998 game around an over-the-shoulder camera, redesigned locations, and separate campaigns for Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Leon arrives for his first day with the Raccoon Police Department as Claire enters the city looking for her brother, and both are pulled into the same outbreak from different directions. Exploration still depends on keys, documents, puzzles, and careful inventory choices. Ammunition and healing supplies are limited enough that avoiding a fight can be smarter than finishing it. Leon and Claire meet different supporting characters and uncover different parts of Umbrella's work, giving each route its own scenes and pressure points. Capcom released the remake on January 25, 2019, with versions now available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
