Quake

Quake is id Software’s 1996 dark-fantasy first-person shooter. As Ranger, players cross corrupted military bases, medieval castles, lava-filled dungeons, and gothic dimensions while collecting four runes and confronting the ancient force behind an invasion. Combat depends on fast movement, weapon switching, aggressive encounters, and exploration through interconnected levels. Bethesda’s enhanced release preserves the original campaign and mission packs while adding updated visuals, modern platform support, multiplayer, cooperative play, cross-play, and curated add-ons. MachineGames episodes are additional content within that package rather than the definition of the original game. The June 22, 1996 release date remains the game’s starting point; the 2021 enhanced release and later add-ons extend it. Quake is separate from Quake II, Quake Champions, and any individual expansion episode.
