4A Games developed the Redux edition, with Deep Silver as publisher. Its Steam release was August 25, 2014. It is a new edition of Metro: Last Light rather than a replacement story for Metro 2033. The Redux edition includes the previously released DLC alongside the main campaign.
Players can choose Survival or Spartan play styles. Survival puts more pressure on resources; Spartan supports a more action-oriented run. The edition also includes Ranger Mode for players seeking a harder experience. Existing versions include PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The October 2026 free upgrade adds support for modern hardware. Steam, Epic and GOG are scheduled for October 22; Windows Store, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S follow on October 29. Japan has a separate November window without a confirmed day. Those dates refer to the upgrade, not the game’s first release. No ray tracing or Switch update is announced.
