4A Games developed Redux as a new edition of Metro 2033, incorporating changes to controls, combat and animation from Metro: Last Light. Deep Silver publishes it. The Steam release was August 25, 2014; existing editions also include PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The single-player campaign offers Survival and Spartan play styles. Survival emphasizes limited resources, while Spartan offers a more combat-focused approach. Ranger Mode adds a further challenge, including reduced on-screen information.
A free next-gen upgrade is planned for Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG on October 22, 2026. Windows Store, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S follow on October 29; Japan has an undated November window. The new console versions are future releases, not the original 2014 launch. No Switch upgrade or ray-tracing support is announced.
