Mario Kart World is a racing game for Nintendo Switch 2. Pick a Nintendo character, drive a kart through colorful courses, and try to finish ahead of the other racers. Question-mark boxes on the road give you items that can help you overtake someone or defend your position. Races can have up to 24 drivers, twice the usual crowd in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The tracks are connected by roads, so a race can take you from one course to the next instead of resetting on a separate track. In Grand Prix, you race across four connected courses and earn points. Knockout Tour is different: everyone starts together, and the slowest racers are eliminated at five checkpoints. If you want to practice without the pressure of a race, Free Roam lets you drive around the world and look for discoveries at your own pace. The game also has Battle mode.
You can play with one to four people on one Switch 2, two to eight through local wireless, or up to 24 online. Online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Mario Kart World launched on June 5, 2025, only for Switch 2; it is a new game, not an expansion for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or a game for the original Switch. Its ESRB rating in the United States and Canada is E (Everyone), with Mild Fantasy Violence and an online Users Interact notice.
