Halo Infinite brings Master Chief to Zeta Halo after the UNSC suffers a major defeat. The Banished control parts of the ring, and Chief must recover his footing, find allies and confront their leaders. The campaign has a central story path, but its larger outdoor areas also let you choose when to tackle Banished sites, rescue stranded marines and explore. You do not need to clear every side activity to keep following the main missions.

Chief carries familiar Halo weapons and can pick up new ones from the battlefield. The Grappleshot lets him pull himself toward terrain or reach objects and enemies, which makes movement and combat more flexible than in many earlier Halo campaigns. Forward Operating Bases become useful stops for fast travel and gear once reclaimed. The map points toward story objectives, while optional activities can provide new equipment or make later fights easier. Zeta Halo still includes more directed indoor missions, so the campaign alternates between open areas and set-piece routes.
Multiplayer is a separate part of Halo Infinite. Its free-to-play beta started on November 15, 2021, ahead of the campaign’s December 8 launch. Matches, Spartan armor customization and Forge creation do not replace the Master Chief story. Network campaign co-op and mission replay were added after launch; they should not be confused with features available on the first day. Players mainly interested in the story should choose Campaign, while those looking for team matches should enter Multiplayer.
Developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios, Halo Infinite launched for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. The date on this page follows the full campaign release on December 8, 2021, with the earlier multiplayer beta explained separately. Its official cover shows Master Chief on Zeta Halo under the native Halo Infinite logo.
