Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues after Final Fantasy VII Remake. Cloud Strife, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII leave Midgar and travel across the planet as they pursue Sephiroth. The story revisits characters and locations from the 1997 game while changing how some events unfold. Rebirth is the middle entry of a planned three-game remake project, not a remake of the whole original story by itself.

Outside the main path, the party can explore broad regions, take side quests, and play minigames. In battle, you can move and attack in real time, then slow the action to choose abilities, spells, and items. Different party members have distinct moves, while Synergy Skills and Synergy Abilities let them work together. Materia changes the spells and other abilities available to each character.
Square Enix developed and published Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Its first release was on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024; a Windows PC version arrived in 2025. The 2024 year on this page refers to that original launch.
