Dishonored 2 starts when Emily Kaldwin loses her throne. You choose to play as Emily or her father, Corvo Attano, and work toward taking it back. Much of the story takes place in Karnaca, a coastal city with streets, rooftops, guarded buildings and rooms you can enter in different ways. The first Dishonored gives more background to these characters, but this game explains the immediate problem clearly enough to begin here. It contains violence, assassination and dark fantasy elements.

The choice of character changes the powers available to you, but both can approach missions in different ways. You can study a guard's patrol, find another entrance and slip through, or fight directly. Look above street level for windows, balconies and pipes; the obvious front door is rarely the only route. Read notes and listen to conversations if you want clues about a target or a safer path. Emily's powers include Far Reach, which helps her cross gaps, and Domino, which links people so one action affects several. Corvo has familiar powers from the first game with expanded upgrades. You can also choose to play without supernatural powers, making tools and the environment more important. Your decisions affect how missions play out and how the world responds.
Arkane Studios developed Dishonored 2, and Bethesda released it worldwide on November 11, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The official cover shows both playable leads under the native title.
