Devil May Cry 5 follows three playable characters through a demon invasion in Red Grave City. Nero returns with a sword, a gun and replaceable mechanical arms called Devil Breakers. Dante brings several weapons and combat styles that reward switching approaches mid-fight. V hangs back while his summoned companions attack. The story moves between their missions, so a change in character also changes how the next encounter should be played. You can enjoy the action without knowing every older game, though returning characters and family history have more meaning if you do.

This is a character-action game about learning moves and keeping an attack going creatively. A first run is easier when you try a short combination, watch an enemy's response and use dodge or movement instead of pressing the same attack without looking. Nero's Devil Breakers have different effects and can break, so experiment rather than saving every arm forever. With V, command the companions to weaken enemies, then bring V close for the finishing blow. Dante offers the widest move list; learn one weapon and style at a time before trying to use everything at once. Red Orbs buy moves between fights, and each mission grades how stylishly you played.
Capcom developed and published the original Devil May Cry 5 worldwide on March 8, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition came later on newer consoles and adds features; it is not the original 2019 release. The official game cover shows the three protagonists with the native title. The gallery uses Capcom-supplied captures: they show Nero's mechanical arm, Dante's combat and V up close, so a new reader can tell the characters apart.
