Deathloop is a first-person action and stealth game set on the island of Blackreef. You play Colt, who wakes up at the start of the same day after each failed attempt to escape. Eight people called Visionaries help keep the cycle going. Colt needs to eliminate all eight within one loop, but they do not wait in one place for him. The puzzle is learning who goes where, at what time, and which events can bring targets together.

Blackreef is divided into several districts that change between morning, noon, afternoon, and evening. A clue found in one visit can explain a safer route or a new opportunity in another. You can sneak past guards, use weapons and supernatural abilities, and try different paths when a plan fails. Colt's rival Julianna may also enter a run to hunt him, either under computer control or as another player when online invasions are enabled. If you only want to explore the campaign, the game lets you keep that pressure under AI control.
Arkane Studios developed Deathloop and Bethesda Softworks published it on September 14, 2021 for PC and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series X|S version arrived in 2022; that later release does not change the game's original year. The official cover places Colt and Julianna on opposite sides of the title, fitting a story about their repeated confrontation.
