Arkham City is a large section of Gotham turned into a prison, with criminals and villains living behind its walls. Batman enters the district to investigate what is happening and the plan called Protocol 10. Familiar figures such as the Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman appear, but this is a separate story from Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The city gives Batman room to move above street level as well as through buildings and hideouts. Fights with groups of opponents sit alongside stealth and investigation, while gadgets support movement and detective work. The original gallery shows these different situations, including Catwoman in her black catsuit and the Riddler surrounded by surveillance screens.
Rocksteady Studios developed the game and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published it. It first launched in North America on October 18, 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Windows PC digital release followed in North and South America on November 21. The cover shown here belongs to the later Game of the Year Edition; the screenshots come from the original 2011 official gallery. Return to Arkham is a later remaster, not the version recorded by this 2011 release date.
