Alien: Isolation follows Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley from the first Alien film. She travels to Sevastopol, a space station connected to clues about her missing mother. The station is damaged, its people are frightened, and a dangerous alien is moving through it. You see what Amanda sees in first person. The game is about surviving and finding a route forward, not running from room to room shooting everything you meet. You can follow the story even if you have not watched every Alien film, although the original film adds context.

The station has corridors, vents, computers and locked passages. Look at your map and objectives, search rooms for useful items, and watch for places to hide or move around an enemy. The hand-held motion tracker can show movement nearby, but it is not a perfect picture of the alien's exact position; check the surrounding room as well. Doors, terminals and environmental sounds give clues about where to go next. People and hostile androids can also cause trouble. The official screenshots below show an actual terminal, the green tracker screen and the types of spaces you will cross, not random promotional images.
Creative Assembly developed Alien: Isolation and Sega published it for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC in October 2014. PlayStation marked its console launch for October 7; the Steam store lists October 6. We use October 7 here because that is the date in PlayStation's original launch post. Later ports are separate from that original release.
