A Plague Tale: Requiem is a single-player action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment. It continues the story of Amicia and Hugo de Rune after A Plague Tale: Innocence. Its original worldwide release was October 18, 2022, on Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a separate cloud version on Nintendo Switch.

Read full overview

Amicia and her younger brother leave their home and travel south, hoping to find safety and understand the illness affecting Hugo. Their journey moves through busy towns, ruined settlements and a Mediterranean island. The changing places matter: a peaceful street can offer a break from the danger, while guarded paths and rat-filled areas demand a different way forward. This is a directed story adventure, not a freely roaming open-world game.

You mainly guide Amicia through encounters using stealth, tools and weapons. Avoiding a guard, distracting someone and fighting are different options, and supplies limit what you can do. Her sling and crossbow serve different purposes; alchemical items can change an encounter without turning every situation into a straight fight. Hugo’s connection to the rats also becomes part of how the siblings move through danger.

Rats avoid light, which makes flames and lit areas important parts of the environmental puzzles. Human enemies and rats do not create the same problem, so reaching the next safe place can require more than aiming a weapon. The gallery contrasts the siblings’ quieter travel with guarded areas and the rat threat, without explaining the ending or naming later story revelations.

Requiem is a sequel, not an expansion for Innocence. The Switch edition streams the game through the cloud rather than running the same native version as PC or the other consoles. Its platform listing should therefore be read as Nintendo Switch cloud version, not a promise of offline Switch play. There are no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions in the original launch lineup.
