The Ribbon Hero is a standalone anime fantasy that reimagines Osamu Tezuka’s 1953 manga Princess Knight. After the monstrous Nergal destroys Silverland, Princess Sapphire reaches Goldland and begins rebuilding her life with new companions. When danger follows her, she takes up her sword and awakens again as the Ribbon Hero to defend her new home. The movie tells its own version of Sapphire’s story, so viewers do not need to read the manga or watch an earlier adaptation first. Yuki Igarashi directed the film, his first feature-length movie. Twin Engine produced it, with OUTLINE handling animation. Kei Mochizuki designed the characters; Mai Yoneyama collaborated on the visual concept; Issei Arakaki adapted the designs for animation; and Cedric Herold served as art director. Saya voices Princess Sapphire in Japanese, with Seiran Kobayashi and Koki Uchiyama among the principal cast. Netflix released The Ribbon Hero worldwide on August 8, 2026. Its official title page lists a runtime of 1 hour, 51 minutes and 7 seconds and classifies it as Japanese shōjo and fantasy anime as well as an action-adventure anime movie. Japanese audio is available alongside localized dubs and subtitles, although language options vary by region. This is a completed feature film rather than a television season, so there is no episode count or renewal schedule attached to the hub.
