Shin Oishinbo

Overview

Shin Oishinbo is a new television adaptation of the food manga written by Tetsu Kariya and drawn by Akira Hanasaki for Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits. The Japanese title is 新 美味しんぼ; Shin Oishinbo is its romanization, not an announced English distribution title. The series is scheduled for Japanese television in 2027. Shiro Yamaoka and Yuko Kurita are reporters at the Tozai News. Their assignment is to build the Ultimate Menu, which competes with the Supreme Menu led by Yuzan Kaibara. Kaibara is Yamaoka’s estranged father, an artist and gourmet who runs the members-only Bishoku Club. Yamaoka’s knowledge of food makes him a capable opponent despite his often-unmotivated behavior at work. Kurita’s exceptional palate earns her a place on the newspaper’s team. The announced story also introduces young publishing-company president Ichiro Dan as the menu contest’s referee. He falls for Kurita while she and Yamaoka struggle to be honest about their own feelings. Food competitions, family conflict and the colleagues’ relationship all contribute to the story. Yohei Azakami voices Yamaoka, Hitomi Sasaki voices Kurita, and Akio Otsuka voices Kaibara. Kenichi Nishida directs, with series composition by Takahiro Nagano and character design by Nozomi Kawashige. SynergySP and Vega Entertainment handle animation production, with Shin-Ei Animation credited as producer. An exact premiere date, episode count and broadcaster have not been announced. No U.S. streaming service, English dub or U.S. age classification has been confirmed; the new episodes are not available to stream yet.
