FukuFuku Map

Overview

FukuFuku Map (ふくふくの地図) is an original 10-minute, 53-second animated short made for Fukushima Prefecture. French philosopher Sophie arrives for a friend’s wedding, loses the map she planned to follow and is guided into a wandering trip through the prefecture. Her encounters introduce local landscapes, food, crafts, architecture and the people who have carried traditions forward. It is a tourism brand film, not a television series or feature-film release. Sunao Katabuchi directed and wrote the film; Fumiyo Kouno created the character concept, Kotringo composed the music and CONTRAIL animated it. Fukushima Prefecture is credited as producer and copyright holder. The Japanese film was released March 24, 2026. Fukushima Prefecture posted an English-subtitled version, titled FukuFuku Map, to its official YouTube channel on September 1. No age rating or separate third-party streaming service is listed. As of September 30, 2026, the complete English-subtitled upload on Fukushima Prefecture’s official YouTube channel was confirmed playable in the United States. Availability in other regions has not been checked.
